Your Growth Portfolio**

"...Portfolios are a means of communicating about student growth and development..."
Rick Stiggins (1994)

Each student is required to have a Portfolio that will be evaluated / graded towards the end of the year.

It will count as 30% of your final grade. **

Please read the following guidelines carefully:

¨        Your portfolio should be used solely for English class. It should be neat, in good shape, and very well organized. (Creativity is a MUST)

¨        You will need 4 Tab Dividers clearly labeled for the following sections:

1- Cover Sheet (10 pts.)

Contents + Student's Preface* + “Your Growth Portfolio” + “Your Passport” (information about yourself)

2- Homework Assignments: (25 pts.)

a.        what is the assignment about?    b.  why did you choose it?     c.  what did you learn from it? How did you “grow”?

3- Tests & Quizzes: (25 pts.) The ones you would like to keep/you are proud of (minimum 3 items) + show your “growth” + justification: at least 100 words (typed) that answer the following questions:

¨        Presentation counts (10 pts.)

¨        Most entries in the Portfolio must be dated and labeled

¨        Your Portfolio should be kept up-to-date on a regular basis.

¨        Keep your Portfolio and its contents for next year!

* Student’s Preface = introduce your whole portfolio without forgetting to mention why it is important, which are the most important parts of it -- the ones you would like the reader to focus on, how much you benefited from keeping/maintaining it, and what you think of the whole idea.
